Back to back Ian Daniels Medals for Wade Hurst with this one in a premiership year is a huge achievement and well deserved. Mitch Ogle's first year in Red & Black came with a move up forward halfway through the year and made significant ground to finish second in the B&F while also kicking the most goals. Last years Greg Carkeet Medalist, Matthew Johnson's move to Friday night added strength to the side while Daniel Hope's last 4 weeks where outstanding to take out Best in Finals. Mark Coverdale used smarts and experience on and off field to earn himself the Coaches award, while Sam Hailstone took huge steps forward this year, contributing strongly in a number of games.

QWFA Div 1 B&F Count

Best & Fairest: Nicole O'Loughlin

Runner Up: Erin Sargent

Most Consistent: Erin Sargent

Coaches Award: Emma Kaye

Most Improved: Mel Rogers

Players Player: Kelly Fulcher

Nicole O'Loughlin was a star this year for the Division 1 Girls, fighting hard each week to keep the side not only in games, but in good spirits in a tough year, only 1 call up to the seniors however may change on the back of this award, going into the new year. Erin Sargent was always reliable and consistently one of the best each week while Kelly Fulcher was seen by her peers to be the Players Player. Emma Kaye worked hard all year and was awarded the Coaches Award and Mel Rogers was considered as Most Improved from a team with a number of players that came a long way throughout the year.

Reserves B&F Count

Best & Fairest: Oakley Dew

Runner Up: Matt Judd

3rd B&F: Roderick Schneider

Coaches Award: Lachlan Waye

Most Improved: Shivdeep Gill

Leading Goalkicker: Roderick Schneider

Oakley Dew and Matt Judd only played a handful of games each, (7 & 6 respectively) but when they played, were clearly best on the park. Roderick Schneider again finishes in the top 3 with a few goals nabbing him a Leading Goalkicker Award as well. Lachlan Waye and Shivdeep Gill fought hard all year as the two last line defenders in a struggling team and were rewarded for these efforts.

Lloyd Bates Medal Count

Lloyd Bates Medalist: Emily Bliss

Runner Up: Kaitlyn Cantrell

Most Consistent: Emma Aeschlimann

Coaches Award: Emily Madden

Most Improved: Hannah McDonald

Leading Goalkicker: Courtney McDonnell

After 4 years in a row of Emily Bates taking out the top prize, it was Emily Bliss who the took out the Lloyd Bates Medal in 2018. An outstanding year in defense with a few stints in the ruck, Emily proved too good for most if not all of her direct opponents and her tackling (avg 6.8 per game) and ability to read the play and help her teammates made her the obvious choice for votes each week. Kaitlyn Cantrell had another outstanding year averaging 23 disposals and with over half contested and an average of 5 tackles a game, she either won the ball in the middle or stopped it getting out the other way more often than not. The captain Emma Aeschlimann also had another good year, leading a team that at times went out at much less than full strength, and avg of 19 disposals and 12 contested shows a commitment to win the ball that few others can match. Emily Madden's first year of football started slow but she showed that a willingness to learn and attack the ball and the player can get you places in football, a deserving winner of the coaches award. Hannah McDonald took her game to another level, consistently in the best 22 and starting to take control around the contest organising teammates was a big step in her development. Courtney McDonell just inched out last years leading goalkicker Jade Ransfield to take out the award. In a year where goals were hard to come by, goals at important moments proved to be a specialty for Courtney this year.

Greg Carkeet Medal Medal Count

Greg Carkeet Medalist: Zach Templeton

Runner Up: Mark Nolan

3rd B&F: Ben Cody

Coaches Award: Jonathan Jennings

Most Improved: James Tighe

Leading Goalkicker: Brendan Davis

Rising Star: Tyler Keays

Zach Templeton takes out this years Greg Carkeet Medal with a standout year individually despite a tough year for the team. With an average of just over 30 disposals a game, Zach made sure we won enough ball to remain competitive in many games we could have easily fallen away in. Mark Nolan was a contested specialist this year, averaging 19 disposals with half being contested and 5 tackles, Mark gave our outside runners an opportunity to move the ball forward while he was in the middle. Also able to go up forward and take a good contested grab despite his size, Mark was so close with just the single vote seperating him and Zach. Ben Cody may have not played as many games as others, but contributed well in those that he did with an average of 7 marks a game. He was a target that allowed us to move the ball through and allowed us more opportunities going forward than when he wasn't playing. Jonathan Jennings commitment to the team continued and was awarded the coaches award. After 191 games, the big 200 milestone is within reach. James Tighe had some big development this year, thrown in the deep end against quality ruckmen every week, he learnt quickly what it would take for him to impact games. Brendan Davis' may be more well known for his run from the back half but the goals were in sight this year and he lead the goalkicking in 2018. Tyler Keays averaged 22 disposals and had a huge 34 disposals in the win over springwood in round 2 and showed why he was the clear choice as this years Rising Star.

Appreciation Awards

Colin Mitchell

Colin is a great example of a great club person, coming down every home game without fail to run the scoreboard and time keep for the senior game rain, hail or shine.

Di Zanchetta

Di made sure that the senior girls got on the park each week and made sure everything was in order each week.

Hannah Stephens

Not only helped with managing the senior girls, but also did a great job working behind the canteen and helping wherever needed.

Patrick Daley

The clubs exercise physiologist and trainer, Patty, goes above and beyond the role he is asked. He always gets involved at all functions and is one of the first to put his hand up and come down to the club and volunteer for big events.

Jenna Vandyk

Jenna managed the reserves girls and made sure everything was done to get the girls on the park, simply would not have had this side without her work. All this while expecting a baby. (Congrats Jenna & Sam)

Peter Beardsley

Always around and always helping, Pete does anything that is asked of him and more.

Trevor Gordon

Managed a lot of different things this year and was an important part of getting a team together each week.

Craig Williams

As a sponsor of the club, Craig is also an outstanding volunteer and club person, always making sure to make the effort to get down every Friday to run water for our Division 5 side and help out when the club needs volunteers.

Club Person of the Year: Martina Beardsley

There could be no other winner this year than Marti, the work that she did through the year is unmatched by anyone. Managing all 3 mens teams and performing most match day duties on her own was unbelievable in its own right. But when we have 105 players through our reserves side in a year, that is a monumental effort to organise registration, permits and clearances. Marti did everything she could for the club and even managed to find time to cook the Thirds boys meals on training nights for the Thirds finals campaign. No one was more deserving to be named Club Person of the Year.
