Lions maul Giants, remain undefeated

The Brisbane Lions have put their competition on notice with a 34 point thumping of the GWS Giants. The Lions led all day but struggled with windy conditions at the South Pine Sports Complex in the first half kicking 1.7 up to half time. They were able to steady in the third quarter and kicked 5 goals straight in the second half including 2 from Kate McCarthy to put away the struggling Giants. McCarthy now leads Brisbane's goal kicking and is quickly becoming one of the stars of the competition.

Emily Bates again lead from the front with 13 disposals and continues to lead that stat for Brisbane. As well as some courageous marks and contests going back with the flight impressing commentators. Sam Virgo also played well again controlling the half backline and reading the ball well to create scoring opportunities for the forwards.

Bates was again named in the best for Brisbane in the AFL match report which can be found below.

The Lions will travel to Adelaide next week to play the Crows in what could be a battle between the last two undefeated teams, pending the result of their match with Fremantle tomorrow.

Brisbane's next match is on Saturday March 4 at 6:10pm AEST at Norwood Oval against the Adelaide Crows. You can watch this game on Fox Footy (Channel 504) or stream it free at www.afl.com.au.
