Another strong performance sees Brisbane go 2-0 leading into first home game

Devils Emily Bates, Samantha Virgo and Kate McCarthy again performed strongly for the Brisbane Lions at Fremantle Oval yesterday in front of a crowd of over 10,000 in Round 2 of the AFLW. The Lions ran out victors 5.6-36 to Fremantle's 3.4-23 to sit on two wins without a loss going into their first home game.

Brisbane seemed to control the game for most of the day with Fremantle close behind but chasing all day. The last quarter was tense with only a goal between the two teams until Brisbane kicked away late and sealed their second win in as many weeks. Emily Bates again lead the disposal count for Brisbane with 13 touches, 9 kicks 4 handballs, with Sam Virgo right behind on 12 possessions and 4 tackles. Kate McCarthy applied good forward pressure and lots of run in the forward line finishing with 8 touches and 4 tackles. Both Virgo and Bates were again named in the best in the AFL match report.

Another Devil, Jade Ransfield has been named emergency and traveled with the team for both games so far and hopefully we will get to see her get her chance soon.

Brisbane's next match is on Saturday February 18 at 3:35pm AEST at South Pine Sports Complex against the Collingwood Magpies. If you can't get down to support the girls in person you can watch this game on Fox Sports 3(Channel 503) or stream it free at www.afl.com.au.
