For Season 2009, we welcome the involvement of Dion Scott as the Senior Coach. As no doubt many of you will already be aware, Dion is a prominent past player of the Brisbane Lions and Sydney Swans Football Clubs, a veteran of 79 Senior games. Also, Dion has previous coaching experience with the Redlands Football club in the AFLQ State League. The Club is enthusiastic about having Dion appointed to this role, and anticipate all players, through all grades, will share this enthusiasm. Dion has conducted several successful training sessions held prior to Christmas. Now the true preparation for Season 2009 begins with our pre-season training sessions held at Cansdale Street, Yeronga, starting at 6:00pm, each Tuesday and Thursday night. All new and returning players are requested to attend training to commence the successful pursuit of our goals for 2009. Over the course of the pre-season, Dion will plan several additional sessions designed to add variety to the session and make things entertaining and interesting for those involved. This will include such events as a weekend trip to Moreton Island, a working bee, and weekend sessions. Of course, there will be a series of practice matches, of which some clubs have already made contact with Dion. The Club also wishes to express our great appreciation to Tom Corless for his efforts as Senior coach over many years. Through both good years and tough years, Tom's efforts were outstanding, helping to achieve two long-awaited Premierships for the Club. Tom, a Life Member of the Club, will continue to provide voluntary assistance wherever needed or sought. We also wish to welcome David Hume to the role of Reserves Coach. David was an assistant coach with the 2008 Premiers, Wynnum, and is looking to expand his experience with Yeronga in 2009. We look forward to many of our experienced players providing David with support in his new role. Of course, we also intend to nominate a Thirds and an Under 18s teams in 2009 - but confirmation of coaches for those teams will be made later. The Club looks forward to the efforts and commitment of both Dion and David to make 2009 a successful season for Yeronga. We wish them every success and good fortune in their roles.
