The Club has held a very successful and well-attended Presentation Night for the 2007 Season - and we would like to congratulate the following people: Seniors Club Champion: John Kaye Throughout an undefeated 2007 season, John Kaye was outstanding in the Seniors, playing as Ruck Rover, often without change. He would regularly rack up a stack of possessions that propelled the team forward for frequent victories. Not one to talk up his own performances, John has been a major reason for the Club's consecutive premierships in 2006 and 2007. Apart from a wayward radar in front of goals during the early stages of the season, he has been a highly consistent player throughout the year. John set up an early lead in the vote count, and was able to maintain it through almost all rounds. At Round 15, eventual Runner-Up Best & Fairest, Joel Waters (who will try out for Labrador in 2008) drew level with John. However, several big games in the late rounds helped John regain and maintain his lead. Late starter and League Most Valuable Player (as voted by the other coaches in the Competition), Glenn Hayles, rocketed up the Leaderboard to finish in third spot. Other players to do very well included Cam James, Jacob Thomlinson, Alex Gregoriou, Jeremy Mackie, Sean McCormack, and Rory Farrow. SENIORS Club Champion (Best & Fairest): John Kaye The Clubman Of the Year Award was one that could have been given to any number of people. A great sign for our Club was the number of willing people who gave their time and effort to help lift our Club higher throughout the year. Their positivity and commitment was a fantastic statement of their outstanding qualities as teammates and members. The committee considered many nominations (and you may be surprised at exactly how many nominations we did consider). However, we unanimously chose Michael Jorgensen in his first with the Club (and his first year with football) as a worthy recipient of the award. Michael has shown great enthusiasm in all he has done throughout the year, placing the teams and the Club above himself frequently. He could always be counted on to help with any task, and seemed to thoroughly enjoy his involvement during the year. It was pleasing to present this award to Michael, and we all hope it is the start of a long association with Yeronga. Duncan McLean was also presented with an award for the Greatest Contribution To The Senior Effort for his equally outstanding work for all three teams during the season. For the Reserves, Rod Schneider was a runaway winner of the Best and Fairest, whilst Dan Ross backed up previous awards with a Best & Fairest in the Thirds. RESERVES Best & Fairest: Rod Schneider
Best & Fairest: Dan Ross
And we would especially like to see all players back with the Club in 2008 to see how much further we can improve yet. Any other players interested in being a part of our great Club in 2008, please feel free to contact us now at devils@YerongaFC.com.au.
